The random musings of Kate Grace
I’ve been so humbled and just so shocked by the reaction of readers to Burden of the Soul. Thank you to each and every one of you that has taken the time to email me or comment here about your experience reading the book. It’s been amazing to hear the various reactions and all the different aspects that readers connected to.
And an even bigger thank you to everyone who has taken the time to comment on the book’s Amazon or Goodreads pages. Leaving reviews on those sites, rating the book and even sharing your thoughts through Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest/etc., it all helps more than you can imagine. It’s my hope to let as many people as possible know this book is out there. Particularly to young female readers or those of us who will always be young females at heart despite our age. That’s why I’m asking for all of your help.
Beginning tomorrow on March 28th, the digital edition of Burden of the Soul will be available for free download through Amazon all the way through Sunday, April 1st. Help us by letting people know. Tweet it. Share it on Facebook. Email the link to friends you know who may enjoy the book. The thing I find so interesting about independent digital publishing is that it’s not, as they would call it, “self” publishing… it’s Publishing by The Masses as no paperback book or even eBook is “published” until someone clicks “Buy.”
The Masses get to choose which books live and which fade away into the shadow’s of Amazon’s algorithm. As I’m up to my elbows writing book 2 (and a little of book 3 right now) I become overwhelmed with excitement at where this story is going and just can’t wait to share it with all of you. There was a time there when I got discouraged enough the thought, “Why bother writing the rest?” passed through my mind with way too much frequency. So I sincerely thank all of you who gave me hope and sparked my need to keep writing through your excitement (and sometimes your threats) for the rest of our characters’ story.
I already owe you so much and to ask for more seems greedy to me, but just know every mention, every review, every rating, every shared link, every recommendation, every tweet, etc., helps the book and thus the rest of the series.
This is the era of Publishing by The Masses, and just like American Idol or So You Think You Can Dance, I need you all to “call or text in your votes now”. Help us get to the next step by spreading the word as frequently and as widely as you can tomorrow through April 1.
